Positively Positano

“Beautiful Positano.”

I have been enriched and blessed to be able to travel the world. I will always remember iconic moments of travel to special places for the first time. I remember the thrill of riding in a hot air balloon over the Masai Mara in Kenya, visiting the temples of Angkor in Cambodia just after the Khmer Rouge left, exploring Ubud in Bali, or riding a long tail boat to visit a Hmong village in the Golden Triangle near Burma & Laos. I have a collection of amazing memories that excite me to this day. Marla and I came up with the idea of sharing travel adventures with our Wesco Fabrics customers as travel incentive trips. We have hosted trips to Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Koh Samui, Paris, a 11th century chateau in France, Cannes on the Riviera, and incredible Bali, with our third trip departing on May 20th.

“The Wesco Fabrics group in Cannes on the French Riviera in 2008.”

“We took our group to fascinating Bangkok and the island of Koh Samui in 2009.”

“Buca di Bacco will be our hotel in Positano.”

Our Wesco Fabrics 2010 PLATINUM LEVEL sales incentive trip will be to incredible Positano. Positano is a sparkling gem in the amazing jewelry box of Italy’s Amalfi coast. Positano, the Island of Capri, Amalfi and Ravello have been favorites of Roman emperors, jetsetters, billionaires and their mega yachts, and celebrities around the world. And soon, The Wesco Fabrics group of beautiful people.

John Steinbeck once wrote “Positano bites deep. It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoning real after you have gone.”

“Marla waits for a jet ferry to take us to the Island of Capri.”

“La dolce vita on Positano’s pebble beaches.”

“Capri is enchanting.”

“The main square of Amalfi.”

“The fish monger awaits customers to check out his seafood.”

“Ravello.”

We will take our guests to incredible Ravello, 1000 feet up the mountain from Amalfi.

Marla and I love the gardens of Villa Cimbrone in Ravello. Mesmerizing!

We will work up an appetite after touring the gardens. Villa Maria is a wonderful place for a delicious lunch. Who’s ready for a limoncello?

We head back to Positano from Amalfi on the jet ferry.

We will tour ruins of ancient Pompei, once buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D.

Wesco’s GOLD LEVEL trip will be to San Francisco and Napa Valley. I was born and raised in the Bay Area, and it holds a special place in my heart! We will enjoy the sights of the City and savor it’s many flavors. Fine dining of course! Marla & I will take interested parties to the Glide Memorial Church, listed in many guidebooks, and not to be missed.

“Beautiful Yountville in the Napa Valley.”

From San Francisco we will travel to Yountville, smack dab in Napa Valley. Choosing tonight’s dinner will be difficult as Yountville has an incredible array of very fine restaurants. The French Laundry will not be in our budget but there are so many great places to visit!

“Berringer Brothers winery in Saint Helena.”

Marla & I met at college in Northern California. We used to drive up to Saint Helena, just up the road from Yountville, to have picnics at the Berringer Brothers Winery.

“Castello di Amarosa winery.”

We will have a private tour of one of the valley's most incredible wineries, Castello di Amarosa, in Calistoga. The castle was an obsessive labor of love. $50,000,000 helped as well.

Wesco Fabrics customers may qualify for free trips to either or both places. We can email our trip brochure with complete information and qualification levels. Call or email Judy Schlachet (800) 950-9372, (303) 388-4101, ext. 233, or judyschlachet@wescofabrics.com. I am happy to answer questions as well. dickgentry@wescofabrics.com

Next week I will cover the trends and colors of Heimtextil, the world’s largest textile trade fair.
