I can't keep up!

Some say that magazines and newspapers are going the way of the dinosaur. Well they aren’t at my house! I looked at my crazy stack of magazines, and thought, “this is getting nuts!” Either I am single handedly trying to keep these publishers in business, or I am a prime candidate for an OCD clinic. I counted the magazines and newspapers I receive each month and it is totally scary! Between home, style, food, wine, and cycling, etc, my magazines/newspaper count is way about 30+. I’m not counting what I read online. There is a certain stress in trying to keep up with all the reading. I’m a quarter way through Vanity Fair and a new issue arrives!

I have so many unread cut out newspaper and magazine articles stacking up that I need to stay home from work for two weeks to catch up! I definitely want an iPad, but I don’t really want to eliminate all my magazines and newspapers. The old fashion me loves the tactile aspect and intrinsic feel of a beautiful magazine like Veranda or Architectural Digest. I love settling in with my newspapers and a cup of coffee on a Sunday morning. It is not the same with a reading device. Of course I can only read Rue and Lonny online.

It would be difficult to rate my favorite magazines. Right at the top I would have to put Vanity Fair, Conde Nast Traveler, Cycle Sport, and Track and Field News.

My wife has one thing to say about all this; “Have you ever heard of a library?”

  1. Dick,
I always always enjoy your very candid and fun postings!
Each time I receive one, it is a little piece of pleasure because it either talks about travels (I am from France), design or the good all family values!
Thank you so much for sharing your ideas and images.
