Casa Batllo.

La Sagrada Familia cathedral.

Many of Barcelona’s most famous buildings were designed by Antoni Gaudi.

The Barri Gotic is Barcelona’s gothic quarter with a labyrinth of narrow lanes. It is full of interesting restaurants and shops.

Marla and I traveled to Barcelona in January to prepare for our 2012 Wesco Fabrics trip. We loved the Placa de Santa Maria with many little cafes where people come to drink wine and talk.

I lingered by a tea shop window in the old quarter. A patron appears to be deciding on a delicious treat.

People come to the Placa Saint Jaume on Sundays to perform the “Sardana”, the national dance of Catalunya.

While waiting to take an excursion boat I spotted the giant yacht, “Titan”, in the background. It is a brand new 238’ yacht owned by the Russian billionaire, Roman Abramovich. He owns many giant ships including the “Eclipse”, the world’s largest private yacht.

It is really fun to take one of the many sightseeing excursion boats.

In January we walked on a nearly deserted beach at the Platja de Nova Icaria. Frank Gehry designed the huge copper fish in the background for the 1992 Olympics. In the middle of summer the beach is packed!

The Poble Espanyol is an incredible “ancient” village recreated for an international fair in 1929. It is beautiful at night with many shops, restaurants and bars.

We will take our group to a dinner show at the Tablao de Carmen in Poble Espanyol. I was mesmerized by the Flamenco dancing and guitars!

We will stay at the wonderful “Hotel 1898”, right on the Ramblas. Marla is getting some winter sun on the hotels roof.

The hotel has a rooftop pool and a fabulous spa pool in the basement. Both will be necessary therapy after days and nights of explorations!

There are many colorful buskers on the busy Ramblas. Marla gets the full tourist treatment!

We have hosted trips with Wesco Fabrics’ customers and friends to Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui, a 10th century French chateau, Bali on three different occasions, Cannes, and Italy’s Amalfi Coast in Positano.

Please join us in Barcelona!!!
