There has been an unprecedented number of fires this summer in Colorado. Lives have been lost and hundreds of homes destroyed. Our firefighters deserve so much gratitude for their amazing efforts and heroism. Many cities have canceled their annual Fourth of July fireworks displays as a cautionary measure since the state is such a tinderbox.
I fondly remember seeing my first fireworks extravaganza as a small boy at Lake Merritt in Oakland, California. Every blast in the sky brought out “oohs and aahs” from everyone in my family. It was really special to eyes of a 7 year old!
We won’t have fireworks in our area, but I will watch the concert and fabulous fireworks from Washington D.C. on PBS, and the Macy’s fireworks from New York City on NBC.
I will celebrate our Independence Day grilling my favorite, a juicy hamburger. I hope you have a wonderful and safe holiday.
