Dreams Realized

Diana Nyad, Cuba, Key West, Havana, swimming, shark cage
The intrepid Diana Nyad fulfilled a dream by swimming 110 miles from Cuba to the U.S. without a shark cage. Her first attempt was in 1978 at 28 years of age. This week she completed this amazing quest on her 5th attempt from Havana to Key West in 53 hours! She said “All of us have difficulties in our lives. And if you say to yourself, ‘find a way’ you’ll make it.” This is even more fantastic as she is 64 years young!
I love when our dreams become a reality with our heightened focus on goals, desires, and lots of perseverance!

What do you want to accomplish? Do you dream of traveling to an exotic locale, writing a novel, growing orchids, climbing a “fourteener”, learning French, completing a triathlon, or becoming a chef? All of us have dreams that seem just out-of-reach. We can almost touch them but they seem so elusive. You first have to put the goal out there…and then chase it down!

I once dreamed of cycling up the 21 switchbacks of L’Alpe D’Huez in France. I didn’t know if I could do it, but I did it on three occasions.  I wasn’t very fast, but I made it!

Where are your dreams taking you?
