Marla recently turned me on to Daniel Pink’s book, A Whole New World, Why Right Brainers Will Rule the World, and his argument about the importance of “Right Brainers” in the world of our future. I say “right on” to that! I fit the profile of the typical right brainer as “slightly disorganized, unpredictable and emotional.” It is said right brainers are “good with people and philosophical.” I use my left brain reluctantly and find more comfort with its creative neighbor. Author and artist, Austin Kleon, presents “A Whole New World” in a way we can easily grasp.
Reading up on Daniel Pink, “A Whole New World,” and Right Brainers led me down a few interesting roads, all fascinating! I found a great article on www.lifehack.org about “Left vs. Right Brain,” and “21 Reasons Why You Should not be Proud of Being Busy.” What an eye opener! Number 19 says “When you’re busy, you forget to dream.”
“Dreams fuel us. They let us break through our current state, and are the building blocks of desire. Without the dream, your passion and drive won’t be sustained long enough for you to actualize them. Dreaming is what allows seemingly ordinary people to do extraordinary things.” I have dreams about where I want to go and what I would like to create.
I have begun to set in place my building blocks for the creation of a new fabric collection for Wesco Fabrics; exciting, colorful and new! I am dreaming about how it will look and one word keeps appearing,…BEAUTIFUL!
***I was enthralled with Daniel Pink’s interview on Oprah! I think you will find him as transformative as Eckhart Tolle is for so many! This is a great listen for Right Brainers and our Left Brainers as well!
