Marla and I received an invitation for Gayle Beyer's birthday party in Colorado Springs and decided we had to go! Gayle and I met in our former Wesco Fabrics' showroom at the Denver Design Center. Our friendship grew through Facebook. Gayle's company, Gayle Beyer Designs, was based in the Washington D.C. area and worked on projects around the world. She spent three years designing the new home she shares with her husband, Bob, near The Garden Of The Gods in Colorado Springs. The home is beautifully designed and the views of Pikes Peak are magnificent.

Marla and Gayle take a little home tour.

Marla and I have enjoyed connecting with Facebook friends socially around the country this year. We connected for a fabulous dinner in Sonoma County and enjoyed Champagne with two FB designer friends in Dallas.
At the party, we met Gayle's daughter, Jessie Beyer, a fascinating world traveler, who is head of marketing for Experience Plus, a bicycle tour company I have enjoyed using many times.

The next morning we stopped by the Garden of the Gods Trading Post. Marla used to visit the store with her parents when she was a child. The building was built in 1929 and is a fun place to visit while at the park.

I saw a great book on crystals and minerals and had to have it!

A running race was just finishing while we were at the Trading Post. The race was stopped for a spell by an interested bear!

This is a drone photo by Pikes Peak Aerial of The Garden of the Gods. It shows the majesty and the mystery of the beautiful rock formations.

We headed off for a hike.

Pikes Peak at 14,114' high has snow almost all year.

Time for a photo shoot.

I love this part of the park and those fabulous rocks reaching for the sky.

Our hike was a blast as we haven't been in the park in years. Thank you, Gayle, for a great party. Next time, the Champagne is on us!
